A practice session should lead to a useful next step

PrepSim brings exam practice, saved results and review tools together in one free, ad-free app. You can prepare for English-language tests such as IELTS, PTE, CELPIP, TOEIC and TOEFL, or choose from Indian competitive and entrance exams. The aim is to help you practise, understand what happened and decide what to work on next.

Here are the features worth knowing before your next session. The available modes, question types and feedback depend on the exam you choose.

Choose a full rehearsal or a focused session

A full test helps you practise pacing and concentration across the available test format. Where offered, Section practice or Task practice lets you work on one skill or question type without committing to a whole paper.

Before you start, check the included sections, duration, equipment and navigation rules. A separate section result represents that section’s practice; it does not become a combined full-test score. Read any limited-coverage notice before treating a paper as a complete exam rehearsal.

Practise with clear timers and navigation

During a test, the task instructions tell you what response is required. The question navigator helps you see your position and move between permitted questions. Some exams allow revisiting; timed listening, speaking and other one-way tasks can lock earlier content.

Treat the timer as part of the practice. Leaving or refreshing a page does not necessarily pause it. For audio tasks, follow the playback restrictions shown rather than assuming that every recording can be replayed.

Save progress and return to unfinished practice

PrepSim saves responses during supported test journeys. Watch the save and upload indicators: a response on screen or a recording on your device is not the same as a server-confirmed save. If saving fails, follow the retry guidance before leaving.

Your account keeps resume links and completed assessments together. The two newest unfinished tests are retained; starting another replaces the oldest unfinished test. Submitted assessments are kept separately. Resume an existing test when you want to continue, rather than starting another copy.

Check your equipment before recording

Tests that need audio or speech guide you through the relevant equipment checks. Play the test sound, confirm that you can hear it, record a microphone sample and listen back. This helps catch a muted microphone or the wrong input device before a timed task.

Keep recording and upload status in view during Speaking. A completed equipment check confirms your setup at that moment; check again if you change microphones, headphones or devices.

Use assessment feedback to guide improvement

Objective tests can show your marks and available answer explanations. Writing and Speaking assessments can provide task feedback, supported strengths and areas to improve. Use those comments to choose a specific change, such as answering every requested point or supporting an opinion with clearer examples.

Some assessments are prepared after submission. A pending assessment is different from an unsaved response: check the displayed status and return through Past exams for updates. Partial feedback, unanswered tasks or insufficient evidence can make an overall estimate unavailable. Read the reason alongside the feedback; practice results are not official examination scores.

Review mistakes before taking another test

For supported objective exams, mistake-review tools help you revisit questions you missed. Try solving a question again before opening its explanation. Separate a knowledge gap from a misread instruction or a rushed calculation.

Available questions and forms can repeat, especially in a focused task with a small pool. Recognising an old answer is not the same as understanding it: explain the method or evidence in your own words before moving on.

Print a paper or share a completed assessment

Where Printable offline paper is available, you can print or save a question paper and its blank answer sheet, with a separate answer key for checking afterwards. Keep the key closed during the exercise and manage the timing yourself.

After a test, supported result screens offer image sharing and an assessment link. These serve different purposes: an image is a compact result card, while the link opens the shared assessment. Anyone with that link can view the name, result and feedback it contains, so share it deliberately.

Make the app comfortable to use

PrepSim supports phone and desktop layouts, with light and dark themes. Where an Enlarge image control is offered, use it to inspect a question diagram or image more closely. Choose a device that gives you enough room for the task, especially when reading a long passage or writing an extended response.

  • Choose one goal for the session and select an appropriate practice mode.
  • Check the rules and equipment, then complete the task without outside help.
  • Confirm that responses are saved and follow the submission status.
  • Read the assessment, revisit mistakes and choose one improvement for your next session.

Ready to practise?

Try the timed practice test that fits your next goal, then review the questions you missed while the decisions are still fresh.
